SPW’s staff of professionals designs, develops, and implements Business Continuity Planning, Continuity of Operations (COOP), and Emergency Operations Planning
that provide effective prevention, mitigation, preparation, response and recovery in the event of a disaster. In addition to developing BCP and COOP plans, SPW utilizes an Exercise and Evaluation Practice Model to design,
execute and evaluate its all-hazards approach to planning. Integrated into this model is our extensive planning and exercise cycle.
Our professionals are certified by FEMA’s Emergency Management Institute, members of the Memphis/Shelby County EMA’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT),
and trained military professionals in disaster preparedness. Our team members possess skill sets that include the ability to:
- Determine plan development requirements
- Define continuity management and control requirements
- Establish procedures to transition from emergency response plan to continuity of business plan
- Identify organizational functions, information and resources
- Re-engineer processes
- Develop processes and procedures
- Identify potential risks to the organization

- Evaluate, select and use risk analysis methodologies and tools

The SPW team has extensive exercise experience throughout Tennessee in Urban Area Security Initiatives (UASI),
Hurricane Katrina, hospitals and public health management, fire, law enforcement, pandemic and logistics support. Our Community Resilience practice sets strategic direction that
enhances regional response capability and capacity.
Our Senior Policy Advisors have at least 15 years proven success leading critical emergency management and disaster planning projects.
They have experience engaging at all levels within the organization, providing both oral and written presentations.
SPW has partnered with the Southeast Region Research Initiative (SERRI) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), LeMoyne-Owen College, Tennessee State University, and Alcorn State University
to conduct research into small disadvantaged business disaster preparedness. To view a description of the project, click here.
